rambling

Today several books that I wanted went on sale so off I went to B&N. First they did a little remodeling so I was a bit confused as to where the books were shelved. Of the six books that I wanted, they only had two in stock, Kindred in Death by J.D. Robb and Murder Had a Little Lamb by Cynthia Baxter. On an impulse buy, I picked up Dirty Sexy Knitting by Christie Ridgway.

Later I ordered Bookplate Special by Lorna Barrett, Take Me For A Ride by Karen Kendall, Dial Om for Murder by Diana Killian and The Fashion Hound Murders by Elaine Viets online.

The reason for the remodeling - they built an area to sell their newest gadget - "the nook". They had a mock version, without the insides and functional buttons, for us to touch and get a feel. The store said they'll have some in stock the week of Thanksgiving.

This afternoon during lunch, we went on an excursion to the West Side. I wanted to see what everyone was talking about. Docked in the Hudson River stands the Navy's newest - the assault ship, USS New York, made with 7.5 tons of World Trade Center steel that is part of its bow. Isn't she a majestic ship?

Word of the Day: sommelier - A restaurant employee who orders and maintains the wines sold in the restaurant and usually has extensive knowledge about wine and food pairings.

Trivia: On this day in 1507, Leonardo DaVinci was commissioned by the husband of Lisa Gherardini to paint her. The work is known as the Mona Lisa.

Steps taken today: 109485

on TV tonight: NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, The Good Wife

I'm reading Kindred in Death by J.D. Robb, the 29th book in the "In Death" series.

Hey, Dru, just found you here. Love your quilts. My Mom is a quilter (I did NOT inherit that gene) and I have a bunch of them (walling hangings) decorating my home. I don't put them on the bed, though, because the cats sleep with us and they have little greasy bodies. :)

Thanks for ordering my book. Maybe B&N will order more than four this time.

Great picture of the ship! I wonder if our local B&N will get in the Nook for people to look at?
